On January 24 & 25, 2013 the development team of Harvard University's Digital Archive of Japan's 2011 Disasters, with support from the Edwin O. Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies, the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership, and the Lee and Juliet Folger Fund, will convene an international conference on the opportunities and challenges of building new types of participatory digital archives. The conference will introduce various projects underway to create digital archives of the March 11, 2011 disasters in Japan, invite and present reports from those who are using these archives already, and discuss possibilities for similar projects focused on other major world events.
The conference will be held at the Center for Government and International Studies, South Building (1730 Cambridge Street) in room S010 (Tsai Auditorium) located on the Concourse (Lower) Level.
This conference is free and open to the public. However, we would appreciate advance registration by January 18, which will allow us to prepare name tags and make sure we have seats for all attendees. Please register here.
