Jessica explores themes of place, identity, and narrative as they relate to the educational experiences of adolescents. Her recent work has focused on the neighborhood narratives of students in an international online learning community, Project Zero's Out of Eden Learn. Through my internship on the New Civics, she is studying ways to support storytelling, dialogue, and democratic practice in online contexts, and designing place-based curriculum that engages young people in reflection on local and global concerns. Other interests include out-of-school time enrichment programs and youth participatory action research. Prior to entering HGSE, she taught writing and literature, directed a multi-year college readiness program, and developed arts-based leadership programs for public schools in New York City. She received my B.A. in Literature and Ethnicity, Race, and Migration from Yale University, where she also earned my certification to teach Secondary English.
