Brad Wolfsen is the President of Safeway Health, a subsidiary of Safeway, Inc. In that role, he’s responsible for developing and delivering Safeway’s unique health benefits solution to self-insured employers. Prior to joining Safeway Health, he was Vice President of Strategy and Health Initiatives at Safeway. In his strategy role he was responsible for managing Safeway’s corporate-wide, cost-reduction effort that delivered over $1 billion in savings to the firm. He also led key new business development efforts, business unit turnarounds and assessed external investment opportunities. In his health initiatives role, he re-engineered health benefits at Safeway with new plan designs and innovative health promotion programs, while developing Safeway’s culture of health.
Prior to joining Safeway, Brad was a management consultant with both Booz & Company (formerly Booz Allen Hamilton) and Deloitte. He worked with companies in the consumer products, biopharmaceutical, health care and energy sectors. For over 10 years he helped his clients develop and implement successful business strategies to improve financial performance.
Brad received his undergraduate degree in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned an MBA from the University of Chicago.
