Terrance G. McGuire
Terrance McGuire is a cofounder and general partner of Polaris Venture Partners, where he focuses on life sciences investments. He has also cofounded Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Advanced Inhalation Research, and MicroCHIPS. He represents Polaris on the boards of directors of several companies. Mr. McGuire also has served on the boards of Akamai, Aspect Medical Systems, Cubist Pharma, deCODE Genetics, GlycoFi, Icoria, Transform Pharma, and Remon Medical Technologies.
Mr. McGuire is emeritus chairman of the National Venture Capital Association. During his tenure as chairman, he testified before Congress for the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. He is also the chairman of Global Venture Capital Congress.
Mr. McGuire chairs the Board of Overseers of the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College. He also sits on the boards of the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT and the Arthur Rock Center for Entrepreneurship at HBS, and on the Healthcare Initiative Advisory Board at HBS.
Mr. McGuire was listed in Forbes' "The Midas List: 2011's Top Tech Investors." He is also a recipient of the Massachusetts Society for Medical Research Award, and the Albert Einstein Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Life Sciences, given by Harvard and the City of Jerusalem. He was awarded an honorary doctorate of laws degree from Ohio Wesleyan University for his work in translational science.
He received an MBA from HBS, an MS in engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College, and a BS in physics and economics from Hobart College.
