Since August 2011, Matt Tallon serves as the program coordinator for the Public Education Leadership Project (PELP) jointly with the Harvard Business School (HBS) and the Graduate School of Education (HGSE). He also concurrently serves as a faculty assistant at the Harvard Graduate School of Education for Professors Susan Moore Johnson, Jon R. Star, Jal Mehta, and Natasha Warikoo. Matt has experience both in leadership positions as well as urban public schools. For five years, he served as a logistics officer in the US Army spending most of that time stationed with overseas units in Germany and Korea in challenging assignments. Following his career in the Army, Matt was a public high school US History and Civics teacher in the city of Durham, North Carolina. A 2009 graduate of the master’s program in Education Policy and Management at HGSE, Matt was previously licensed to teach secondary social studies in North Carolina as an undergraduate at Duke University. He maintains his North Carolina teaching credential. Matt and his wife Lindsay currently reside in Weymouth with two young sons.
