Lillian Wei joined the Harvard China Fund in 2008 as the Director of Programs and Administration. She is responsible for the Harvard China Fund (HCF)’s China operations, program deliveries and administrative management.
Ms. Wei opened the Harvard Shanghai Office in 2008, and helped establish the Harvard Center Shanghai in 2010. She has been carrying out the University’s China initiatives, developing and managing joint student programs with Chinese universities and institutions, maintaining and expanding Harvard’s collaborations with Chinese authorities and enterprises, managing university-wide programs housed in the Harvard Center Shanghai, and supporting faculty members and University officials on their China missions.
Ms. Wei was the key manager in launching the Harvard China Student Internship Program. Since its initial success, she has overseen the planning, recruitment, and execution of the internship program, which rapidly became one of the largest internship programs at Harvard. She has also been the key manager of the Harvard China Winter Service Program, which sends students from various Harvard graduate schools to China on volunteering missions.
A seasoned professional from the business world, Ms. Wei brings to Harvard China Fund and Harvard Center Shanghai strong skills in project management and risk control, rich experience in consulting and customer service, and a deep understanding of both Western and Eastern cultures. Before her current assignment, she spent over a decade working for well-known multinational companies in the US and China, including Wyeth Pharmaceuticals (now part of Pfizer), Biogen-IDEC, Bose Corporation, and Wang Labs, in roles ranging from principal consultant to program director.
Ms. Wei has an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, and she also holds a Bachelor’s degree from East China University of Science and Technology.
