About the Program

The Program on Text Research (PTR) is a multi-disciplinary research venture housed in the Institute for Quantitative Social Sciences (IQSS) at Harvard University.  It has three main functions within the University:

First, it provides a repository for text data, and is the current Harvard admin subscriber to the Linguistic Data Consortium.  We have numerous holdings, including those from the current year.  Contact the director for more information.

Second, PTR provides a text consulting service on a case-by-case basis.  We are always keen to hear from scholars around the university who need help or advice on text projects, whether that assistance be on the statistics, data or presentation details of their work.

Third, PTR is a co-sponsor of the "New Directions in Analyzing Text as Data" conference, in collaboration with the London School of Economics and Northwestern University.  Our next conference takes place at Northwestern University in Fall 2014.  See our announcements page for more details (here).

Note that the "text-as-data" research community maintains a mailing list to which you can sign up here.
