Default Path Change

The default PATH for command-line RCE Shell will no longer include the current directory by default. This change ensures that only applications in known, trusted locations are executed. You can launch a command from the current directory instead by prefixing it with ./ (dot slash), for example "./configure" .

Issues with Stata "crashing"

HMDC has identified the recent issues with Stata as potentially being related to licensing restrictions. Unfortunately Stata the application does not provide or log the specifics of the issue, but we are working with the vendor to resolve the problem ASAP. We apologize for the inconvenience to our users, and thank you for your patience. We hope to have Stata up and working by this afternoon. This announcement will be updated accordingly.

UPDATE 7/14: Unfortunately we have yet to resolve the issue and continue to work with the vendor.

Always On: Persistent Interactive Jobs on the RCE

Do you run interactive jobs on the Research Computing Environment (RCE)? You probably do, but, do you know what differentiates interactive jobs from non-interactive or batch RCE jobs?

It’s simple: Interactive jobs expect user-input and are often GUI providing applications like XStata, Matlab, or Mathematica. Batch jobs expect no user input and run in parallel without intervention.
