HMDC has identified the recent issues with Stata as potentially being related to licensing restrictions. Unfortunately Stata the application does not provide or log the specifics of the issue, but we are working with the vendor to resolve the problem ASAP. We apologize for the inconvenience to our users, and thank you for your patience. We hope to have Stata up and working by this afternoon. This announcement will be updated accordingly.
UPDATE 7/14: Unfortunately we have yet to resolve the issue and continue to work with the vendor.
On Wed morning Dec 23, HMDC staff were forced to restart our HTCondor resource manager. The resource manager controls all of the jobs submitted to the RCE cluster. Restarting the resource manager terminates all running jobs. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, but was necessary since no new jobs could be submitted.
Things to check if you are unable to connect to the RCE:
Is there an active outage? All outages are posted to the outage notifier (the widget in the top right of your RCE session), the RCE calendar, and to our outages mailing list in advance of planned maintenance windows. You can also check the HMDC status page. For more information, visit our RCE outages page.
Are you over quota? If your home directory goes over 2GB, you won't be able to log in to a RCE desktop. Log in via SSH to clean up your home directory. See, How Do I Check My Quota? for more information.
