Rev. John W. Polk, DMin, BCC is the Director of Chaplaincy at Massachusetts General Hospital.  Prior to arriving MGH in 2012,  Polk was Interim Director of Spiritual Wellness at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri where he also served as staff chaplain for ten years and Lead Chaplain in the Mid-America Heart Institute.  Polk was ordained in 1985 by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Along with his 15 years in healthcare, Polk has served as pastor in churches in New Jersey, Missouri and Kansas for 28 years.  Polk holds a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Northwestern Seminary in St. Paul, MN and a Doctor of Ministry degree from The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.  He is a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains.
