Borkin is a graduate student in Applied Physics at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). She works with Prof. Alyssa Goodman on interdisciplinary 3D visualization techniques as part of the Astronomical Medicine Project, and Prof. Hanspeter Pfister with his Visual Computing Group on scientific visualization. She also works with Prof. Efthimios Kaxiras as a member of the Multiscale Hemodynamics Project. She was awarded in 2010 a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship and a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship. She was also chosen by TED as a TEDGlobal 2009 Fellow, and was profiled bySEED Magazine in their Revolutionary Minds series ("The Re-envisionaries")
