This is a presentation describing the "Astronomy Dataverse," which is a platform for digital sharing and preservation of the data objects related to an astronomer's research.
The presentation first describes the typical problems that occur with data embedded in papers. It repeats these points by laying out the lifecycle of such data objects as research progresses through the typical literature publication process. After these examples it describes the ways in the Dataverse Network software platform solves some of these problems. It continues with an explanation why a domain specific platform might be necessary and how the Astronomy Dataverse is working towards these goals.
