Sriram Sankararaman  uses statistical methods to study gene flows. He has been studying patterns of genetic variation in present-day Europeans to infer  the date of gene flow from Neandertals into modern humans and to identify segments of  Neandertal ancestry in present-day humans. These analyses reveal the dynamics of the interaction between the two populations and also show the impact of ancient gene flow on human biology.
