ICVM-11 Result!

July 6, 2016

The Pierce Lab just returned from the International Congress of Vertebrate Morphology 11 in Washington DC. It was a fantastic conference with lots of great science, networking, and fun with old (and new) friends and colleagues. Everyone from the lab did an awesome job at presenting their research! We presented two posters (Blake = frog fish fins; Stephanie = salamander muscle physiology) and 7 talks - phew. Here is a quick summary:

Katrina talked about our work on the evolution of mammal-type axial regionalization and Robert discussed the ins-and-outs of cervical vertebral motions in the wild turkey. Brianna wowed with bending mechanics of horse digits and Zach taught the audience about crocodile skull morphospace. This was followed by Phil's work on cynodont limb posture using musculoskeletal modeling and then Jillian (former MSc; armadillos) showed us that the relationships between intervertebral flexibility and range of movement isn't quite so straight forward. And, Stephanie closed out the Plenary talks by introducing everyone to the many facets of research in the lab.

Congrats to everyone!!!
