Welcome to SRC

Science, Religion, and Culture (SRC) at Harvard Divinity School conducts interdisciplinary research and convenes forums to inform public and scholarly conversations on the interaction of scientific, religious, and cultural constructs around the world. Focusing on the anthropological, historical, philosophical, and theological dimensions, SRC investigates science and religion beyond given categories, carefully unpacking the production and consumption of these discourses and their interactions in many different socio-historical contexts. The program invites students, scholars, faculty, and members of the public to participate in our mission through various fellowship programs, public events, digital publication, and scholarly conferences. Science, Religion, and Culture Seminar at the Mahindra Humanities Center

Thursday, December 3, 2015, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

The Mahindra Humanities Center, Barker Center, 12 Quincy Street, Cambridge

The Science, Religion and Culture Seminar at Mahindra Humanities Seminars provides an opportunity to critically interrogate the categories of science, religion and culture and the sociocultural and discursive processes that create and transform these categories and the structures of authority attached to them. It sponsors conversations among scholars using anthropological, sociological, historical and philosophical methods with special interest in questions of race, gender and sexuality and different strategies of inclusion and exclusion that transform the production and consumption of knowledge.

Professor Ahmed Ragab, Richard T. Watson Assistant Professor of Science and Religion, will give a book took on his new monograph, The Medieval Islamic Hospital: Medicine, Religion and Charity.
