Project Theme 8: Local Models in Supply, Access, and Finance of Medical and Public Health Service

Project Question: How specific local models, which depend on historical, cultural and religions models, influence the supply, distribution and access to medical and public health services?

Project Description: The project investigates how specific local models of finance, supply and access develop in different regions around the world relying on a number of historical, religious and cultural institutions and in a manner that influence the distribution of medical and public health goods in a manner that parallels, complements competes with and/or replaces governmental and centrally-organized medical and health care supply. The project focuses on South Asia studying different institutions and initiatives in India and Pakistan, and in the Middle East.
