Welcome New Students - And New Technology!

We're very excited this summer to be welcoming not only a new class of Harvard Medical students, but a new fleet of Dell Optiplex 9020 computers, HP Laserjet printers and even more scanners to TMEC.  This summer we're working hard to replace all of the Skills area, tutorial room, and classroom computers before classes begin.  We'll also be updating and refreshing the computers that we don't get a chance to replace this year.

Every printer that we service has been replaced either this summer or last making them super reliable.  Come into techLAB in TMEC 225 to find our color printer.  On our website you can find instructions on how to print to ANY of our printers from your own computer - convenience at its finest!

With the renovation of techLAB, some students have been asking where the scanners went.  Not only did we move them, but we bought MORE.  Head out to any society room and find a scanner on the computer marked -01.

How will I know what I need?

One particularly useful portion of the orientation to student educational technologies at Harvard Medical School is that we give you real world examples of what students use.  Coming in you might not know which note-taking software or iPad stylus will work best to suit your needs, but we can provide you with the best data that we have as to what current and past students have actually found helpful to them.

You can find these slides on the Incoming Students page, but to give you an idea of what's available for information, here are some statistics regarding how popular the HMS licensed software is that is available to you on MyCourses.  This can help give you a better idea of where to spend your time and energy related to technology while here at the medical school.
