Publish Data

In the IQSS Dataverse Network we offer you two choices to publish your data and share withe it with the world or just with your collaborators:

  1. Create your own dataverse and upload your data: You can easily have your own dataverse at the IQSS Dataverse Network by creating an account and giving a name to the datavere, and then start uploading your data. It's only a few steps, and your data can be cataloged with a formal, persistent citation, accessible to those you choose (from public to completely restricted), and securely backed up in our servers. This is free and open to all researchers in the world.
  2. Let the Murray Research Archive (MRA) upload, catalog and preserve your data: If you are interested in additional professional archiving services,  this options is for you. The MRA can help you catalog and re-format your data for future preservation. This service is also free, and in this case MRA becomes the distributor of your data, but you can still have your own dataverse with a listing of your data. Please contact the the MRA team for more information.

In addition, some dataverses might offer the option to contribute to their dataverse, instead of you creating your own dataverse. In this case, the dataverse will indicate that is open to those who create accounts, and detailed information will be provided in the dataverse itself.

Recommendations

  • Have your data ready and accessible from your computer when you are about to create a study and upload data.
  • If you are uploading tabular data, we recommend you to first convert it to SPSS or STATA format to get additional services when you upload it, such as subsettable features, multiple formats for download and a Universal Numerical Fingerprint.
  • If you are uploading network data, we recommend you to first convert it to GraphML to get additional services when you upload it, such as subsetting and pre-defined measurements.
  • If your data is in any other format, don't worry, all formats are supported (pdf, excel, csv, jpg, ...).
  • Maximum file size is 2 GB, but you can upload as many files as needed to one study. Let us know if you need to upload individual files larger than 2 GB.

Note: If you are interested in installing a Dataverse Network for your University and organization to have full control of the data repository, go to the Installers section.
