Ellen Ernst Kossek, PhD
Dr. Kossek is the Inaugural Research Director of the Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence, which focuses on the advancement of women in organizations and society. She holds a PhD in organizational behavior from Yale University. She is the President of the Work Family Researchers Network. Her research is focused on three areas: 1) leader and organizational support of positive work-life-family relationships to improve productivity, well-being and reduce stress; 2) organizational adaptation to new work forms such as flexible work schedules, workload, and E-working; and 3) managing global workforces, gender and diversity across global cultures and contexts. Dr. Kossek has taught in the US and globally on topics such as managing careers and work-life effectiveness; workplace flexibility; international and domestic human resource management and organizational behavior; leadership; teams; diversity; and organizational change.
Dr. Kossek has previously held continuous or visiting scholar appointments at Michigan State University (as a Distinguished University Professor), the University of Michigan; the Center for Creative Leadership; the University of Warwick, UK; the University of South Australia; and Harvard Business School. Dr. Kossek also has significant domestic and international corporate work experience in managing human resources and organizational change.
