Georgia Karuntzos, PhD
Dr. Karuntzos conducts research in a range of interdisciplinary substance abuse prevention and early intervention work, as well as human resources and health promotion service delivery. She previously directed the Organizational Workforce Development program in RTI's Office of Human Resources. Her experience in this role has broadened her workplace research abilities by providing her an intimate understanding of organizational dynamics, human resources applications, and assessment and data collection in the workplace. Dr. Karuntzos serves as the project director for a multi-site evaluation of substance abuse prevention and health promotion programs for young working adults. She has also served as project director for a statewide workplace health promotion study surveying more than 500 workplaces across the state of Vermont; project leader for commercial enterprises examining workforce trends using climate surveys and other data; and associate project director for the Workplace Managed Care Coordinating Center. She was a co-investigator and led the development of the intervention for the Rockford employee assistance program (EAP) study, which examined the impact of enhanced services on EAP utilization and workplace outcomes. This experience has given her intimate knowledge of the programmatic, methodological, scientific, workplace, and political factors requisite for the success of multi-site studies.
