Harvard University Planning and Design

In collaboration with the Schools, University Planning and Design develops and regularly updates an integrated, University-wide campus plan, working to ensure that every corner of campus – Cambridge, Allston, the Longwood Medical Area (LMA), and the regional areas like the Arnold Arboretum – is situated within a cohesive planning strategy in support of the University’s academic and research mission, as well as ongoing partnerships with surrounding neighborhoods and cities.

      Harvard Allston Initiatives

Reporting to the Chief of University Planning and Design, Allston Initiatives is focused on planning, development and placemaking strategy in Allston. We ideate, experiment, evaluate, recommend and implement new approaches to neighborhood-building and urban planning in order to bring transformational change to the campus and the neighborhood. Our approach is designed to strengthen the connections between places, experiences and people. We partner closely with other University colleagues and coordinate with a range of external constituencies to facilitate institutional growth, non-institutional mixed-use development, and enhancements to the public realm.
