Dr. Zhang’s research is focused on identifying the mechanism of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), with the goal of identifying molecular components and biomarkers that will translate into the development of novel therapeutic strategies for AD. Specifically, Dr. Zhang is investigating the therapeutic potential of novel compounds that utilize different mechanisms underlying AD, which include the γ-secretase modulators, curcumin analogs and natural compounds. Additionally, Dr. Zhang is interested in investigating the roles of biomarkers in enriched environment, e.g. mindfulness and physical exercise.
