Chan Zhou received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (with honor) from Zhejiang University and Doctoral degree in Bioinformatics under the supervision of Prof. Bailin Hao (CAS & FDU) and Prof. Ying Xu (UGA). She did her Postdoc training in the field of RNA genomics at Dr. Alan Mullen’s lab of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Zhou joined UMass Medical School as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the summer of 2019. Most of her work involves developing computational methods and statistical/mathematical models for analyzing various large scale high-throughput sequencing data in biomedicine. In recent years, she has developed methods to decode circular RNAs, long noncoding RNA, and RNA epigenetics in human genetics and disease. The focus of the Zhou laboratory is to use innovative computational strategies to further our understanding of noncoding RNA epigenomics in genetics and disease for the development of personalized medicine.
