Composer, conductor, and pianist Lukas Foss met Leonard Bernstein at the Curtis Institute of Music, where Bernstein studied from 1939-41. They also studied together under Serge Koussevitzky at Tanglewood (then the Berkshire Music Center). In this interview with Katherine Lee on March 30, 2006 Foss discusses his impressions of Fritz Reiner, Isabelle Vengerova, and Koussevitzky, instructors he and Bernstein had in common. He also shares stories from their 55 year friendship.
