- Remove the handscroll from its box and place on a clean flat surface.
- Wrap the tie and clasp in soft paper to prevent damage to the mounting.
- Unroll the handscroll to a comfortable arm span. Handscrolls are meant to be viewed one section at a time as a narrative, and may be several feet in length.
- Place weights at each end to prevent the handscroll from rolling.
- As you unroll the handscroll from the left to view the narrative, you roll up from the right.
- Keep the diameter of both ends of the handscroll equal and do not put pressure on them.
