Traditionally, East Asian scrolls are wrapped in cloth and stored in cloth bags or two-piece boxes constructed of paulownia wood. Ideally, the interior of the box should provide support for the roller bar ends of a hanging scroll. Handscrolls rest on the bottom of the box. If the box is missing, a custom single or group storage box may be constructed of archival materials.
