Abstract

Over the past three decades, a lot of efforts have been made to map and monitor urban land changes using remotely sensed data. However, most of the studies have concentrated on a single city or a cluster of cities. It is not until recently that global mapping and monitoring of cities have come into being. In this talk I shall present a trajectory of urban mapping and change analysis mainly based on works conducted in my research, and then discuss some possible future perspectives in monitoring the world's cities.
