Windows to the Past: Discovering History Through Tangible Things

Date:

Tuesday, August 11, 2015, 7:00pm

Repeats every week every Tuesday until Tue Sep 01 2015

Location:

Harvard Ed Portal, 224 Western Ave., Allston

Join us for a series of interactive discussions that complement the free HarvardX course, Tangible Things. The online course, led by Harvard Professor Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, introduces an understanding of how people make history through objects—the things they gather, create, collect, exhibit, exchange, throw away, or ignore.

This in-person discussion series is intended to allow anyone--from the casually interested, to antique collectors, to museum professionals--to work together in person, ask questions, and engage with real life objects. Participants will assess fascinating objects in Harvard’s collections, as well as the kinds of collections found in your very own attic, to see how any material thing, when examined closely, can be a link between the present and past.

Course materials can be accessed online. Course enrollment and all materials are free.

This series is free and open to the public. Please RSVP online through Eventbrite.
