Miguel has worked at the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) since 1997 and is the Senior Technologist and coordinator of the Brazilian Network for Digital Preservation Services CARINIANA. He is the editor for Brazil of the international repository E-LIS and he is also the editor of the Brazilian Journal of Digital Preservation. He is a member of the IFLA Standing Committee on Preservation and Conservation (2017-2024). He received his Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of Brasília in 2008.
