Sarah Giesbrecht is the Research Data Management Librarian at the University of Winnipeg and has previous experience working in both Data/RDM Services and academic Archives. She has dual Masters degrees in Archival Studies and Library and Information Studies from the University of British Columbia and advocates for greater collaboration between RDM Services and Archives for the long-term preservation and access of research data.

Sarah is of mixed German and Indigenous descent and her family are members of the Qalipu First Nation in Newfoundland. She strives to apply her heritage, knowledge, education, and experience to advocate for and advance Indigenous Information Sovereignty and Governance along with information literacy and access in accordance with the OCAP Principles.
