Wim Hugo is the Chief Technology Officer for DANS, an institute of KNAW (Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen) that focuses on provision of high-quality, state-of-the art digital repository services for research data and the provision of expert knowledge in the field. In this role, he is responsible for the maintenance and evolution of DANS information technology services.  He specialises in Research Data Infrastructure Architecture, Open Science policy and implementation, and in the development of policy and decision support systems based on open data.

He was a founding board member of CoreTrustSeal, and served for many years on the Scientific Committee of the World Data System. He is active in RDA and was a past contributor to several GEO initiatives, including GEO-BON and the GEO Data Management Principles.”
