Data & Donuts is a bi-monthly gathering in collaboration with Harvard Kennedy School Library & Knowledge Services.
The purpose of this gathering is to create a welcoming space to engage with data and build data literacy skills in a fun, approachable way. We will explore data through our own everyday interactions with data collection and use unique resources, like Dear Data (which blends daily data and art).
We are excited to use DataBasic.io throughout the semester.
We are also excited to welcome several guest speakers over the semester including:
- Caroline Sinders on her approach to data literacy and feminism via art
- Catherine D’Ignazio on data journalism and use of data for storytelling
The group will meet Fridays twice a month over the fall 2018 semester, beginning Friday, September 14, 2018 from 10:30am to 11:30am in the Library Commons, HKS.
To facilitate discussion, space is limited to 20 participants. We ask that students commit to attending all the sessions. Please complete the registration form (here) to join the group.
Participants will be contacted by Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
Participants will each receive a copy of Dear Data, and yes, there will be donuts.
