A Day of Remote Community Service

"Life for none of us has been a crystal stair, but there is something we can learn from the broken grammar of that mother, that we must keep moving. If you can’t fly, run; if you can’t run, walk; if you can’t walk, crawl; but by all means keep moving."

Recently, the Educational Nonprofit Coalition (ENC) and the Coronavirus Visualization Team (CVT) teamed up to host a free 'tutorthon’ for all high school students in need of getting help/assistance with their core classes, such as math, history, science, and mock college interviews. Our intercollegiate tutor team consisted of students from Harvard College, the University of Michigan, Brown University, and the like. High school students that identify as BIPoC, and/or are based in an under-privleged community, were particularly encouraged to opt-in to the wide range of tutoring services we had available on Monday, January 18th, 2021. Tutorthon was also in efforts to fundraise to fight student food insecurity, in which all proceeds raised under Tutorthon will go to the U.S. hunger relief organization, Feeding America.

Despite operating remote, the MLK Tutorthon was able raise $255 in 7 days in efforts to fight student food insecurity, and well over 150 tutors and tutees attended - which logged in 200+ volunteering hours total over an 8-hour timeframe.

Thank You

Thank you to each of our donators, tutors, tutees, and Tutorthon organizers for helping us make this day of community service successful.
