Ayr founded Clover Fast Food, Inc. in 2008 and also serves as its President, Chief Executive Officer and Director. He was raised in a rural Massachusetts town on the Vermont border in a house his parents built; the family bought most of its food at the local co-op. A distant cousin of naturalist John Muir, Ayr has cited environmental motivations as a driving force behind the company's creation. He wishes "to shrink the ecological footprint of the food industry by making fresh, local, sustainable vegetarian food as common and convenient as the fare at Burger King….”With “the mind of an engineer, the heart of a social entrepreneur, and the personality of an artist,” Ayr has been called “the Steve Jobs of food.” He earned his BS and SM from MIT and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
