Reid’s research focuses on how college students understand the purpose of their education. Situated in the context of increased vocationalism in higher education, Reid’s work aims to inform how colleges can best convey their civic and liberal arts missions to diverse student bodies. As a Research Assistant at Project Zero, he uses mixed methods to study the perspectives of multiple stakeholders across college campuses and he has also conducted historical research on how “experimental colleges” in the 1950’s and 1960’s sought to reshape liberal arts education.
