2022 Submissions

The application period for the Harvard East Asia Society Conference 2022 is now open. The conference will be held from February 19th to February 20th, 2022. The deadline to submit an abstract is December 18th, 2021 by 11:59pm EST. This year’s theme is The New Normal: Changes and Exceptions in East Asia. Submissions received after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis. Application decisions will be released by mid-January and complete paper drafts will be due by January 23rd, 2022.

Prior to submitting an application, please review the following guidelines. Applicants and papers that do not meet the following requirements may not be considered for selection. When you are ready to submit your for review, please do so by filling out this submission form.

 

Eligibility and Application Guidelines

1. Submitted papers must be related to East Asia, Southeast Asia or Inner Asia.

2. The abstract must be no longer than 250 words. You will type them directly into the submission form linked above.

3. If your abstract is accepted, a paper draft must be submitted either as an MS Word file (.doc or .docx) or PDF. It should be double-spaced with 1-inch margins and standard 12-point Times New Roman font. Any professional citation typically endorsed by humanities and social science departments may be used (i.e. MLA, APA and Chicago), and the citation should be consistent throughout the paper. The completed draft, based on the submitted abstract, will be due January 23rd, 2022 by 11:59pm EST.
