Several years ago, I was hired to work in the mail-room at a small company in Westford, MA called Iris Associates. My first day on the job the CEO introduced himself to me, shook my hand and asked, ”What can I do to help you?” The lesson I learned that day was that a good leader makes his employees feel like an important part of the team.
If elected Vice President of HESA I want to make you the students feel like part of the team. This is a difficult task with so many students spread around the world but it is not impossible. Through hard work and dedication, we can make HESA more inclusive, and welcoming to everyone.
Last year I served as Chief of Staff on the HESA Board. I met many talented people and was inspired by many of the great ideas they had. In the upcoming year, I want to work to turn some of those ideas into reality. Ideas like finding new ways to make distance students feel more included, and more on-campus events to help being Extension School students together as a community.
Extension School students are incredible people. Many of us have full time jobs, families, and other responsibilities, yet we find time to further our education and expand our knowledge. Our time is valuable and I want to make sure we all get the most out of our time here together at the Extension School.
