Leah Porter is a Master's in Education candidate in Education Leadership, Organization, and Entrepreneurship, with a concentration in Higher Education at Harvard's Graduate School of Education. She was born and raised in Malaysia, where she did not have the opportunity to pursue college due to poverty. After immigrating to the US, she was able to attend and graduated from Arapahoe Community College with Associate of Arts in Business Administration. After that, she transferred to the University of Colorado Denver and graduated with Bachelor of Sciences in Business Management and Human Resources. Her past experiences include serving as Admissions Counselor at Arapahoe Community College, Parent Advisor on the Colorado Commissions of Higher Education, and Student Representative on the State Board of Community College in Colorado. Leah understands the nuances of maneuvering higher education as an adult learner, first generation, immigrant, and mother of two daughters. Leah cares deeply and would like to continue to advocate on college admissions, transfer students, and completion, with equity lenses especially for the marginalized, underserved, students of color, and first-generation students.
