Reports about Harvard Women in Science and Engineering
In 2005 Harvard University convened a task force on Women in Science and Engineering. The full text of their report can be found here, and an executive summary is available here. More information, including the history, goals of the task force, and supporting materials, can be found at the this page at the Office of Faculty Development & Diversity (FD&D), which was created to fulfill one of the recommendations of the task force.
The FD&D creates annual reports on the progress made on the task force's recommendations, as well as data about the diversity of faculty at Harvard. Annual reports can be found here.
HGWISE surveys our membership each academic year. Survey results are available for AY 2007-2008, AY 2008-2009, and AY 2009-2010.

Departmental Women's Groups
Departmental groups for women in science sponsor events within their departments as well as with other groups. They are a great way to help build networking and support systems within a department and between future colleagues.
If you are interested in forming a women in science group in your department you should contact both your department administrator as well as Susan Zawalich in Dudley House at 617-495-2255 or e-mail her at zawalich@fas.harvard.edu to become recognized as a GSAS group. HGWISE is happy to help you with this process so please feel free to contact us at gradwis@fas.harvard.edu.
Harvard Women in Chemistry is dedicated to addressing issues concerning the quality of life of women in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. The goals and activities of the group include: providing networking opportunities, exposing members to established women scientists, scheduling scientific presentations, mentoring Harvard College chemistry concentrators, participating in the recruitment of women to the graduate program, and organizing social events. The group can be contacted at hwic.group(at)gmail.com, and you can sign up for the mailing list here: http://chem.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/women.
Harvard Women in Physics is currently chaired by Kate Wooley-Brown and Dilani Kahawala. To join the Women in Physics mailing list, sign up here: http://physics.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/gradfemphys.
Harvard Women in Systems Biology has monthly afternoon teas, hosted by Angela DePace and Galit Lahav. To be added to the mailing list to receive notices about these events, contact program administrator Samantha Reed at Samantha_Reed(at)hms.harvard.edu.
Harvard Women in Astronomy holds semi-regular cookie hours on Wednesdays at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and regular informal WIS (Women in Science) chats with senior women astrophysicists. Harvard grad students, predocs, and postdocs are all welcome. For more information, please contact sballard(at)cfa.harvard.edu.
