Houghton Library Reading Room

Using the Reading Room

Please be advised that due to the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, Houghton Library will be closed to researchers beginning Monday, March 16th, 2020. Given the fluid and evolving nature of the situation, we do not currently have a date on which the Houghton Reading Room will reopen.

Houghton Library Research Services staff will be working remotely during this period to answer research queries. For questions or concerns regarding Houghton Library, please contact us.

For additional information and updates, please visit the Harvard Library Visitor Access website and Harvard University’s main Coronavirus (COVID-19) website.

Reproductions

The Houghton Library building is currently closed to researchers, with the majority of library staff working remotely. Requests for copies of previously digitized collection items will be fulfilled by library staff as they are received.

We do have a limited number of library staff on site who are available to fulfill reproduction requests for previously undigitized collection materials.

If you are interested in making a photoduplication request, you may place your order through your HOLLIS Special Request Account. See our step-by-step instructions for registering for an account and placing your requests.

Please be advised that due to reduced on-site staffing, newly implemented workflows and safety protocols, order fulfillment may take longer than expected. We appreciate your patience.
