Globalizing de Gaulle: International Perspectives on French Foreign Policies, 1958-1969

The thirteenth book, Globalizing de Gaulle: International Perspectives on French Foreign Policies, 1958-1969 edited by Christian Nünlist, Anna Locher, and Garret Martin, provides a comprehensive reassessment of French foreign policy under Charles de Gaulle.  In addition to analyzing de Gaulle’s objectives and French policymaking in the late 1950s and 1960s, the contributors to the book explore the reactions and policies of the various countries that dealt with France during this crucial period in the Cold War.  The book has been widely praised for its “superbly researched essays” that provide “genuinely fresh insights on a subject that seems as timely as ever.” The book was the feature of special forums on H-Diplo and in the JCWS.
