8:30-2:30 PM (Tentatively)

The eighth annual HILT conferenceHILT will be held on Friday, September 27th in Wasserstein Hall. The theme for the half-day event is  “Peer Learning: Everyone’s a Teacher, Everyone’s a Learner.” We will explore various topics on peer learning such as how and why learning from a peer or near-peer is different than from an instructor, the ways in which it may deepen one's own understanding, and how it differs in online and residential settings. Registration will open in August!

Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning
Peer Observation Program

2019-2020 Academic Year

peer observationThe Bok Center is pleased to invite junior faculty in the FAS to join a new Peer Observation Program. This program is designed to provide early-career faculty with a supportive community of colleagues with whom they can share experiences and materials as they develop as instructors. During the 2019–2020 academic year Bok will sponsor six cohorts (two per division of the FAS), each of which will include three junior faculty plus one facilitator from Bok’s senior staff. Faculty participants will have the opportunity to observe, and to be observed by, the members of their cohort as they teach their courses, and to debrief their observations in a collegial environment over lunch, coffee, or dinner organized by the Bok Center. Bok will also provide funds with which participants may purchase teaching-related books and/or materials for an experiment they wish to try in their courses. Sign up now.
