When the first summer of the novel coronavirus pandemic came to a close, on August 31, 2020, the United States surpassed 6 million confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus. As of March 2, 2022, our country now exceeds 79 million confirmed cases. With the added threat of the influenza season and additional winter outbreaks, the disease burden continues to rise. Continued

Disability is the largest minority population in the world.1 Individuals living with disabilities continue to experience structural inequities in the healthcare system, facing both disparities in care2 and underrepresentation as clinicians within the medical profession.3
