Dr. Weikang Cai currently works as a post-doctoral research fellow in Dr. C. Ronald Kahn's lab at the Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School. Prior to his post-doc position at Joslin Diabetes Center, Dr. Cai received his PhD degree from Department of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, College of Medicine, University of Kentucky. His main research focuses in Kahn Lab are 1) to investigate the effects of diabetes and abnormal insulin signaling on central nervous system, especially on astrocytes, one of the most abundant glial cells in the brain; 2) to understand the differential roles of insulin receptor and IGF-1 receptor in cells and animals, and the underlying molecular mechanisms.
