Dr. Sonja Klinsky is an assistant professor at the School of Sustainability, Arizona State University. Her research and teaching practice has continually centered around the justice dilemmas presented by climate change and climate change policy design at multiple scales. In recent years much of this has focused on understanding how justice debates at the international level are shaping global governance, and on constructively contributing to efforts to address the challenges of justice in a resource-constrained world. She has also published work examining potential strategies for better including considerations about equity or justice within public policy analysis practices. Throughout this research activity she has collaborated with multiple non-academic partners in order root these analyses in real-life challenges faced by those trying to make or advise difficult policy decisions. In light of the often contentious nature of justice debates in climate policy contexts, she recently co-authored a book, The Global Climate Regime and Transitional Justice (with Jasmina Brankovic), exploring the potential to apply insights developed by transitional justice theory and practice to the climate context.
