Natalia Banasik (Harvard University) will present her work on verbal irony. Using story comprehension tasks, Natalia and her colleagues from the University of Warsaw (Poland) are trying to understand how young children (aged 4-6) comprehend verbal irony.
Laine Stranahan will present her recent work on the effects of working memory load on contrastive inferences (Sedivy, et al., 1999) as well as some plans for developmental research on the effects of speaker unreliability on contrastive inferences (Grodner & Sedivy, 2011).
