This timeline was designed and created by K. Stawasz, a History of Science student at Harvard College. 

This research project was co-mentored by Buse Aktas (PhD in Mechanical Engineering & Material Science) and Tasha Schoenstein (PhD Candidate in History of Science), and was sponsored by Professor Joost Vlassak (Abbott and James Lawrence Professor of Materials Engineering). 

The timeline was prepared in conjunction with course design work for the introductory mechanical engineering course at Harvard College on mechanics of materials (ENG-SCI 120: Introduction to Mechanics of Solids). The timeline has been integrated into course instruction starting Spring 2022.
