Javier Castaño
Professor Castaño is a Research Fellow (ten.) in Jewish History at the Instituto de Lenguas y Culturas del Mediterráneo y Oriente Próximo of the CSIC (Spanish National Scientific Research Council) in Madrid.  During 2010-11 he is a Research Fellow at the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies (University of Pennsylvania) in Philadelphia.  His interests include the social history of Late Medieval Iberian Jewry and Medieval Hebrew Palaeography.  Since 2006, he has served as editor of the journal Sefarad.  Currently, he is involved in a research project for the edition of Hebrew and Aljamiado (La'az) Iberian Jewish historical documents scattered through Spanish archives and libraries.
