Deepti is originally from India, and she worked in the UK and in South Korea as PhD student and postdoc before joining Yale University as a postdoc associate in retinal bioengineering. Her primary research interest lies in engineering of biomaterials that can influence embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells fate. She previously worked on finding a replacement for retinal tissue affected by retinal pigmentosa or macular degeneration. Presently, for the purpose of creating a treatment for optic glioma, she is developing a method for isolating retinal ganglion cells from animal models.
