Hee Joo Choi, PhD
Dr. Hee Joo Choi earned her PhD in Neurobiology at Korea University College of Medicine, South Korea in 2008. During her PhD course, she studied the functional role of GABA in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), the biological clock in mammals under the supervision of Prof. Yang In Kim. After receiving her PhD degree, Hee Joo came to the US and studied expression and function of GABAA receptors at cone terminals in the laboratory of Prof. Stuart Mangel at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. In 2012, she joined the laboratory of Dr. Tatjana Jakobs at MEEI and is currently studying the causes of glaucoma.
